MISTRE is for a 2-2.5 month, full-time, paid research experience at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine Department of Microbiology & Immunology during the summer for high school students. This fellowship is designed to expose students early to research and help develop critical thinking skills. Students will be mentored in the area of basic research and necessary background information will be taught. The student will work closely with a university professor and graduate students throughout the fellowship. The research performed will be in the area of microbiology; however, research techniques learned are very translational.
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is sponsoring TWO students for 2018.
-16 years of age or older
-Copy of transcript
-One letter of recommendation
-One-two paragraph Statement of Interest (see below)
-Reliable transportation to the Clinical and Translation Research Building (505 S. Hancock St.)
